Shudder, flare, delayed engagement and clutch-limit faults can indicate clutch wear, but they can also be caused by a mechatronic fault, contamination, incorrect adaptation, engine running problems, mounts or internal transmission damage.
Clutch Assessment
- Take-off and engagement behaviour under controlled conditions.
- Clutch slip, travel, pressure or adaptation values available for the transmission.
- Related engine, voltage and driveline faults.
- Fluid contamination and dual-mass flywheel condition where applicable.
- Mechatronic operation before a new clutch is fitted.
Replacement And Setup
Correct mechanical measurement, clutch setup, basic settings, recalibration and road verification are completed according to the transmission procedure. A clutch is not fitted merely because the vehicle shudders.
