Audi SQ5

The Audi SQ5 uses the DQ500 gearbox — a 7-speed, wet dual-clutch, heavy-duty unit rated to approx. 600 Nm of torque. The performance end of the Q5 range.

On the Audi SQ5, mechatronic faults on this gearbox commonly show up as limp mode, a gearbox warning light, or a noticeable hesitation between accelerator input and the car actually moving. Some owners describe it as the car 'thinking about it' before pulling away.

We start every job with a full diagnostic scan of the DQ500 — stored and pending fault codes, live adaption data, and solenoid response — before anything is quoted. Valve body and solenoid faults are repaired directly where possible; where the mechatronic unit itself has failed, we fit a remanufactured exchange unit and recalibrate from there.

Fault codes we most often see on the DQ500 in the Audi SQ5: P0842 (Fluid pressure sensor circuit — range/performance), P0730 (Incorrect gear ratio detected), P17BF (Mechatronic adaption incomplete).

Recommended service interval for this unit: Fluid and filter change recommended every 60,000 km, shorter under sustained towing or commercial use.
