The DQ500 is a 7-speed, wet dual-clutch, heavy-duty design rated to approx. 600 Nm of torque. Built for higher torque loads, the DQ500 turns up in larger SUVs, utes and vans. Towing and commercial duty cycles run the clutch packs and oil pump harder than passenger-car use, so we see a different wear pattern to the smaller DSG units.
Mechatronic faults on the DQ500 typically present as limp mode, a stored fault light, or hesitation and jerky shifts. We start with a full scan of stored and pending fault codes and live adaption data, repair valve body and solenoid faults where possible, and move to a remanufactured unit exchange only where the mechatronic itself is beyond economical repair.
Common fault codes we see on this unit: P0842 (Fluid pressure sensor circuit — range/performance), P0730 (Incorrect gear ratio detected), P17BF (Mechatronic adaption incomplete).
Service interval: Fluid and filter change recommended every 60,000 km, shorter under sustained towing or commercial use.
Below are the specific makes and models we most commonly see this fitted to, with notes on what to look out for on each.
