Audi A1

The Audi A1 uses the DQ200 gearbox — a 7-speed, dry dual-clutch unit rated to approx. 250 Nm of torque. Entry and mid petrol variants of the A1 range.

On the Audi A1, mechatronic faults on this gearbox commonly show up as limp mode, a gearbox warning light, or a noticeable hesitation between accelerator input and the car actually moving. Some owners describe it as the car 'thinking about it' before pulling away.

We start every job with a full diagnostic scan of the DQ200 — stored and pending fault codes, live adaption data, and solenoid response — before anything is quoted. Valve body and solenoid faults are repaired directly where possible; where the mechatronic unit itself has failed, we fit a remanufactured exchange unit and recalibrate from there.

Fault codes we most often see on the DQ200 in the Audi A1: P17BF (Mechatronic adaption incomplete), P0841 (Clutch pressure sensor circuit — range/performance), P17E0 (Clutch 1 (K1) slip detected).

Recommended service interval for this unit: Inspect at 60,000 km; many owners find no factory oil change scheduled at all — this is the single most common cause of premature failure we see.
